Summer movie crop thoughts

Welp, since we've lost our babysitter (wailing, gnashing of teeth, writhing in agony), it looks like our summer entertainment will consist of a LOT of kid movies.

We used to do cool things on dates.  One time (many many many moons ago), Mark rented a limo for our anniversary date.  We ate at a swanky restaurant and then had the limo drop us off to see "Nacho Libre."  Tee hee!  I thought that was sooooo very awesome.  NOT the movie, but going to a movie like that in a limo.  And THEN we had the limo take our babysitter home.  Coolest people EVER to babysit for, yes we were!  For one night, anyway. Hey, Cayleigh, will you stay if we rent limos to take you home in?  We'll do it!  DONE!!

"When you are a man, sometimes you wear stretchy pants in your room.  It's for fun."

Another time, we went to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert.  Our babysitter at the time, Kelsey, commented "I can't wait until I get married and go on cool dates like you guys do."  Well, THAT date about 7 years ago was the last cool thing we did.  Eating dinner at Chilis and going to a bad movie is NOT cool.  Especially if you do it 10 meeeeeellion times.

Anyway, enough of the reminiscing about when we used to be cool.  *sigh*

Noah and Shelby are excited to see Ice Age.  Sequel number 923 I believe?  UGH.  They'll see it with Daddy.  I do NOT do kid movies.  Maybe if I'm desperate enough for Diet Coke or popcorn, though, I could be convinced.

Crummy photo from phone

Even crummier photo from phone

The exception to kid movies for me are the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.  I find these stinkin' hilarious, probably because Mark has always told me that I have the sense of humor of a 12-year old boy (he DOES have to see every Adam Sandler movie with me).  However, since I still have some responsible Mommy in me, if my kids ever actually did any of the Wimpy Kid stunts I would go TOTALLY Chuck Norris on them (paying homage to Mr. Norris since Connor is currently obsessed with him, no idea why).

My phone's camera blows

I'm thinking Rock of Ages is NOT a 4-year old age appropriate movie.  Darnit.  We saw the musical in Vegas a few years back and it....well, it rocked!  Oh, and hey, that's cool date number 3.  My mistake - so, we're at 19 years of marriage and THREE cool dates.  THAT MATH *STILL* STINKS, MARK.

I need a new phone with a better camera

And Shelby, my dear little cherub, this is NOT the first time your father will embarrass you (or me) in public.  Sorry for that very bad news.  (love her face here)

Probably just as well I have a bad phone camera.
This photo probably should NOT be in focus and perfectly lit...just sayin'

Getting My Shiznit Together Summer of 2012

Welcome to the re-designed and re-titled Ritchie family blog!

Mark thinks it's too "Wall Street Journal."   What?!?!  Because hearts and purple and disco balls are ALL OVER the Wall Street Journal, right?  Get some new reading glasses, hubs! AND, he was also kind enough (annoying enough) to point out that I forgot an apostrophe after "Ritchies",  up top.  Actually, I did NOT forget.  But I also didn't know if it went before or after the "s" so I deliberately left it off.  So there.

Tori Spelling thinks purple and red are horrible together.  Usually Tori is right (love her), but this time she's wrong.  Yup, I said it.

But *I* like it, and in my world, that's what matters.  Usually.  Sort of.  Once a week, maybe?

Anyway, I have a zeeeeeeeellion other things to update and blog about which I'm way waaay behind, BUT I just wanted to say that part of getting my shiz together this summer, is showing my blog some more love.  It's my scrapbooking and journaling and keeping my parents updated on their grandcherubs all in one, so it's kind of important to me!

Good times in Canada with some of my favorite relatives, BUT, sadly,
when your shiznit piles up as much as mine has, you practically wear it on your sleeve
and unwittingly advertise it to the world - I had no idea until I saw these photos
how bad it had become....well, that and the question of where IS my left arm, anyway?

And, so that my huge group of ...... three? ...... blog readers can help me out, I'm outlining what exactly shizla that I need to get together.  This is a somewhat personal departure from my usually happy-happy-joy-joy (sorry, just watched Demolition Man last week) family outing blog entries, but hey, we're all friends here, right?

And I want you to keep tabs on me, and check in, and if it's not done by Labor Day, you can point at me and make fun of me and poke me and call me "loooossssseeeerrrrr!!!!!!"  Deal?

Okay, I'll admit that I added on 17, 18 and 19 so I could do an instant check-off.  DON'T act like you don't do that, too, with your lists!  Sheesh.

But anyway, to make a long list a short story, basically EVERYTHING in my life needs to get cleaned.  And simplified.  And organized.  That's not too much for 3 months, is it?  Why now?  Well, because just in case the Mayans were right and 2012 is IT.  And since, for the first time in recent memory we are NOT traveling this summer, and I frankly really don't have a lot to do (aside from the 10 million day-to-day mommy duties, that's all), so why not.  Wait, I need to add another...

22.  HIRE A SUMMER NANNY so I can GET this stuff done (work out conflict with goal #13 later).

Who's with me?  :)
